Bodywork That Goes
Deeper Than the Surface.
Therapeutic massage and stretch therapy rooted in SMRT — a technique that works with the body's own neuromuscular responses to release tension, restore mobility, and support lasting relief.

Therapeutic bodywork at MNBS is results-driven. Every session is informed by an understanding of how the body holds tension, how muscles communicate with the nervous system, and what it actually takes to create lasting change — not just temporary relief.
Using SMRT (Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique), developed by Dawn Lewis, LMT, and paired with stretch therapy, these services address the root of pain, tightness, and restricted movement — whether it comes from chronic stress, injury, postural patterns, or the demands of daily life.
Therapeutic Bodywork
SMRT Therapeutic Massage
60 minutes · 90 minutes · NJ & COSpontaneous Muscle Release Technique (SMRT) is a positional release method that works with the body's proprioceptive nervous system to release muscle tension without aggressive pressure or pain. The body is placed in positions of ease — shortening the muscle — which triggers an involuntary release. The result is deeper, longer-lasting relief than traditional deep tissue work, with significantly less discomfort during the session.
This approach is particularly effective for chronic tension, areas that haven't responded to other massage modalities, and clients who need therapeutic work but can't tolerate high-pressure techniques.
Stretch & Release Therapy
15 minutes · 30 minutes · 45 minutes · NJ & COAssisted stretching designed to restore range of motion, reduce stiffness, and improve how your body moves day to day. Each session is guided and assisted — meaning you don't have to know how to stretch properly, because that's exactly what this is for. Targeting specific areas of restriction, Stretch & Release Therapy works well as a standalone session or as an add-on before or after other services.
What Makes SMRT Different
Most therapeutic massage works by applying pressure to tight muscles — forcing them to release. SMRT takes the opposite approach. By positioning the body to shorten the affected muscle, the nervous system is signaled to let go involuntarily. The release is spontaneous, not forced.
Ms Nicky trained in SMRT directly under its creator, Dawn Lewis, LMT, at Full Circle School of Massage Therapy — and has applied the technique across a wide range of clients, from post-surgical recovery to chronic pain management to general therapeutic work.
